What is the difference between vaccinating and immunizing?

Although they seem synonymous, there is a difference between "vaccinating" and "immunizing". Vaccinating is the act of applying the vaccine, but this does not guarantee that the person will be immunized.

What guarantees that it will be immunized is that the vaccine has been kept correctly, throughout the cold chain: from its production to the moment of application - which includes transport and storage, in a monitored logistics. Another important factor for immunization is the immune system, which needs to respond adequately to that vaccine. As health professionals, our part must be done: taking care of the conservation of vacines, according to the rules, requirements and guidelines for the correct storage of the vaccine throughout its cycle (Cold Chain). They must remain within the range of 2°C to 8°C to maintain their integrity and their immunizing properties.

This and other very important information on vaccine conservation are available on the webinar held by Biotecno with Mayra Moura, Pharmacovigilance Coordinator at Instituto Butantan and Director of the Brazilian Society of Immunizations - SBIm. Follow in full:
