ANVISA authorized the storage of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine for up to 31 days in scientific chambers with temperatures between 2°C and 8°C.
The approval represents a big step in the access to the immunizer, as it will facilitate the logistics of delivery and application of doses throughout Brazil. The same endorsement had already been given by the United States Regulatory Agency FDA - Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency - EMA.
The immunizer has a shelf life of six months when stored in ultrafreezers at about -70°C. Within the shelf life, storage for a single period of up to two weeks at approximately -20°C is also possible, and now for up to 31 days at temperatures from 2°C to 8°C. Last Wednesday, Brazil received another 629.4 thousand doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech.
