In September, Brazilian health has two important dates to celebrate. On September 18, 1973, the National Immunization Program, PNI, was created. On September 19, 1990, Law No. 8080 was enacted, which marked the birth of the Unified Health System (SUS), the largest public health system in the world.
With the creation of the PNI, a world reference program, Brazil began to invest heavily in health with national vaccination campaigns, aimed at different age groups each time, training and technical-managerial updating for managers, surveillance of adverse post-vaccination events and universal service. Since the creation of the PNI in 1973, numerous vaccination campaigns have been organized and millions of lives have been preserved thanks to vaccines.
