Four out of 10 Brazilian cities do not have ideal conditions to vaccine storage

Four out of 10 Brazilian cities do not have the ideal conditions to store vaccines against covid-19, according to a study that heard health managers from 5,569 municipalities.

The item with the greatest scarcity in health units are the smart refrigerators, which guarantee the temperature range between 2°C and 8°C and have several safety features necessary to maintain the integrity of the vaccines, in addition to monitoring and recording the temperature.

The survey shows that 22% of the municipalities have half or less than half of the health units with the equipment. Another 18% do not have equipment in all units. There are 6 out of 10 cities that have a smart refrigerator to keep vaccines. The study also points out that 35% of the municipalities do not have a vaccination room in adequate conditions.

Regarding vaccination strategies, 99% of municipal managers said they adopted the application at home. The systems of flying stations or drive-thru were used in 67% of the cities. Also important for these actions is the use of portable scientific cameras, such as the Smart Thermal Box Biotecno, which has the same technology as the vertical smart refrigerators, for the vaccination room. It guarantees the safety of vaccines during transport, with temperature controlled and digitally monitored.
