Anvisa updates storage conditions for Pfizer vaccine in Brazil

Inclusion in the package insert defines a specific temperature range for transportation and storage for up to two weeks.

Anvisa approved the addition of new storage and conservation conditions for Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine, registered in Brazil in the name of Wyeth Indústria Farmacêutica. Stability studies prove that the vaccine maintains its quality characteristics in the new temperature conditions. The new indications were evaluated at the request of the laboratory.

The new section included says: “Alternatively, closed bottles can be stored and transported between -25°C and -15°C for a single period of up to 2 weeks and can return to -90°C to -60°C.” The new conservation limits will be added to the vaccine package insert and do not change the total validity period of the product, which is six months. The other vaccine conservation and storage guidelines have not been modified.

Both conditions foreseen for the conservation of the Pfizer vaccine are met with Biotecno smart scientific refrigerators, one of the leaders in the segment in Brazil. Smart refrigerators Freezer Line provide storage between -10°C and -35°C, while vaccine conservation ultrafreezers operate between -50°C to -86°C.

Other smart refrigerators offer refrigeration in the range of 2°C to 8°C, or user-programmable. Our expertise in vaccine conservation technology led the brand to store the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine applied in Brazil.
